Tapisserie d”Aubusson, Atelier Raymond Picaud. Numbered 2/6.
The major theme in the art of Michele Van Hout Le Beau is nature; nature at its most sparkling and imaginative. The artist was born in Paris, where she now lives, but grew up on the Riviera. Her style has been a vivid and joyful sense of nature from that experience. Tapestry making is a medium in which she began to work in 1945 at the famed Aubusson. Since then she has executed 58 important tapestries. One was presented as a gift to the U.S.S.R. by the French government.
